Party Contest~!
You mean you haven't heard ?!?!?
There's an art contest I'm hosting titled "Party Contest~!" for my birthday month, because all I really want in the whole wide world is for more art to surface and for my favorite artists and people to have a reason to draw their OCs having some god damn fun for once. (I mean, geezus, guys, show your OCs some love before they starve from neglect due to commissions, or generally not having a good reason to draw them.)
I'm definitely not guilty for brushing off my OC as well.
Definitely.
I'm going to be completely unbiased in my judging-- I'm much too entirely used to viewing art and deciphering my feelings on it while also following/supporting the same artists for months and deciding what it is that makes their newest piece stand out from the last.
You will be mainly judged on creativity. For more details just visit the gosh darn contest thread.
- $600 in prizes.
- Commission raffle where I will commission the lucky winner.
- Badass art by FuShark.
What's not to love~?
To-Date Commission List
I'm not sure how much longer my NG artist commission list is going to get this year, but it's lookin' pretty damn A.O.K.
(WIPs ft. rtil and Namenloose)
Started off pretty strong this year with my redraw commission from @MatthewLopz. He was lucky enough to be chosen for the first episode of GRNDSBreaking because his art literally just stands out among all his competitors, and I felt a strong urge to display my love for what he was doing by spending loads of guap on an extremely heavy audio file.
Anyway, I hosted a game show segment during the interview so Matt could win a commission from me, and it turned out he did great, and I wanted to see him redo this oldie of his that became a favorite of mine while researching him. I was not expecting to see a brilliant rendition with an aesthetically amazing pair of retro sunglasses and attitude that completely blows the original out of the water. Matt's extremely brilliant when choosing the architecture he wants to draw, and by golly gosh, them buildings and them colors set the scene so casually that it's nothing less than a beautiful visual masterpiece.
@Kyuri08 easily became one of my favorite artist after discovering her talents lied so heavily in mass production, special effect emphasis, and impressively stylistic character portrayal. By following Kyu on Twitter you can gain access to a lot of her cute sketches and personality-driven doodles.
TrinaTan was leaving for bootcamp and then deployment in the Navy back in June, and I wanted to show my thanks for all the work she did for GRNDSBreaking. I'm really supportive of anyone brave enough to enlist for their country, and I wanted to show my support in the best way I knew how: by commissioning an artist.
Kyu made Trina look slick, confident, and most of all, badass as all heckamole~
Extremely lucky to have had @cashumeru fit me into their commission schedule. I was literally the last one on their commision list after contacting them here on Newgrounds, and they were extremely easy to communicate with, and actually ended up becoming a good friend of mine ??
Anyway, Higurashi When They Cry (Horror Visual Novel) announced a new anime adaptation and I wanted to celebrate, so I decided that it'd be amazing to see cashumeru draw me some fan art. The lighting coupled with the background offer a significant summery/spring mood that counteracts the bloody weapon and highlight's Rena's seemingly sincere apology.
Great mood. Great colors. Great artist~!
The latest and greatest completed commission from @Oddlem makes Xin look like he understands what real pain means deep, deep within the essence of his being. The paintbrush texture and experienced use of color "paints" the mood with intelligently chosen colors and glow effects, accentuating the strong focal point on Xin's expression that sells the drawing. By letting your view wander, you'll notice how great the line work is at displaying Oddlem's style.
The long body parts, perspective'd styrofoam cup with gorgeous reflective lighting, and confident character design all prove Oddlem's strong suits while giving a large nod to her line art style.
Hella good~
And that's about it, guys!
I've met a lot of really cool people through the Newgrounds art scene, and I hope I can continue to have fun and enjoy the creative talents that everyone has to offer!
Also, pay attention to @TheNewgroundsPodcast. They'll be interviewing me/having me on for a variety show, so it should be fun. Also also they're planning a big "Block Party" for Aug. 29th with art, music, movie, and game streams on their Discord server, and they put me in charge of finding the art talent, so that should be a really good time as well!
