Art Talks, Updates, and etc.

Posted by Xinxinix - May 12th, 2020

Since the launch of @GRNDSBreaking EPISODE 1, I've dedicated myself towards showcasing, promoting, and representing artists whose styles bring admirable decadence to the Newgrounds art scene.

It's not only very rewarding to be able to project my deep, heartfelt feelings about the beauty of art and those who create it, but also very relieving to get those feelings and opinions out there into the world, in the form of a weekly podcast.

Art Talks, a weekly podcast that is released every Sunday that displays my love for artists and what they bring to the Newgrounds table through their individual styles. Animation, music, collaboration, contests, and writing can also be found within Art Talks, but the main focal point, and beginning to every release, is art and creativity. There almost isn't a single day that goes by where I'm not intermingling with artists, musicians, and users that I've come to know and respect.

You can catch the first episode of Art Talks here:

Or the latest episodes inside the playlist here.

That's about it for Art Talks. I've been told that I have a nice voice, and that I'm really chill, but I'm still looking forward to upgrading my equipment and enhancing its production value.

If you have any artists you think I should know about, then please leave a comment below, PM me, or feel free to post in the forum. Thank you everyone who has listened to any of the episodes so far, and given me feedback! I really appreciate it, because it's a good time all around!

GRNDSBreaking UPDATE

The interview has been recorded!

GRNDSBreaking EPISODE 2 has been in the works for a while now, and it's looking like a solid 2.5 months until completion. The interview itself was 9 hours long, so I have to decide what to do with that much content. There is a lot of Newgrounds-rich history inside the interview, as well as its usual advice, tips, and information.

If you would like to help speed up production, then please consider supporting the Patreon. It has a lot of neat benefits and updates, and it ensures we're able to commission quicker in order to push these episodes faster towards completion.

There has been some volatility towards GB and myself because a member was kicked off the team recently. I will not say who they are, but it's unfathomable as to why they are vehemently trying to destroy my reputation.

Here are the facts of GRNDSBreaking:

  • All commissions go towards paying NEWGROUNDS users for their work. This includes writing, voice acting, music, art, and the interview itself. Commission amounts are all posted within the server for everyone to see, and everyone gets paid equally. GRNDSBreaking is entirely funded through its patrons and myself. I do not make money from GRNDSBreaking, and the first episode alone was $1,300 out of my pocket. Seeing as we have a few patrons, this next episode's costs are alleviated in a small way, but I am the utmost grateful for their contributions and I am constantly updating the next episode's progress on the Patreon.
  • The person complaining about being kicked off was kicked off because they were overreacting towards me having to bring up the fact they were making others on the team uncomfortable with their messages. There is a degree of professionalism expected when working on a paid project like this. It is a Newgrounds podcast, so it's expected that we can get a little crass and out-there, but if I have to bring something up to you that is prohibiting other voice actors from feeling comfortable, then you must double-check your actions in a healthy way. There is an actual HR channel in my discord explaining the rules of harassment and openly discussing your sexuality as well as other things that might cause others on the team to think poorly of GB and their involvement. Whether you like it or not, you are an extension of GRNDSBreaking when you choose to become a part of its production, and I'm entirely open to you saying and being whoever online, but do not bring it into the server if you know it's going to cause conflict.
  • This same person slandering my name has earned $220 off the first episode of GRNDSBreaking and came to me when they were struggling. I even donated and tried to find commission work for them through GRNDSBreaking when I saw they were, quote "in the red in their bank account." I've only ever been supportive of their work and have bought/donated/offered work whenever I saw the opportunity. So to be stabbed in the back so easily only means they're out for revenge over something I had no choice but to bring up. The other team members, that can found credited in EPISODE 1, are all openly available to talk to. I have received nothing but praise for my kindness and professionalism since the first day. Feel free to talk to them if you have any doubts.

It is because of the recent turn of events that ONLY professional voice actors with demo reels and previous bodies of work will be allowed on GRNDSBreaking. Of course, they must have a Newgrounds account to join, but if they are amateurs, then they will not be allowed or even considered.

The more trouble I have with users coming into the server and accepting its professionalism, the more trouble I'm going to have producing episodes and keeping morale high. Somebody has already left the server due to unprofessional harassment within the group, and that is the main reason for only allowing professionals from now on.

It's a very strenuous task creating something as big and costly as GRNDSBreaking, and it is ultimately up to me to decide what is best for its future. If I make enemies along the way from defending its honor, and the honor of its team, then so be it.

It's a risk I'd gladly take any day of the week.

Well, that's all for now. I sincerely appreciate everyone's time and support, and I hope to see your guys's feedback on EPISODE 2.

Until then,

Xinxinix
