the guy above me is corect

@xinxinix I see you reacted with the sad face to my comment. I want to be clear my comment isn't a personal attack on you. I am sure you're a nice person. It's just that it's not ok to change the rules on a contest after the fact. In fact if this was any bigger than a fun forum contest it would be illegal to change the rules. Take the feedback and learn from it. It's the only way we grow as people.

@AcetheSuperVillain @Xinxinix you can't stop people from getting mad if they lose. They are sore losers but that's on them, not you. Don't worry about that. The issue is you CREATED a new problem by changing the rules. I am sure you can trust the community, I won't dispute that but that's not who was supposed to decide the winner when everyone submitted. Many good entrants won't win if left up to you? So? That's the point. That's what a contest is. If you want the community to vote then you do a people's choice award. Separately, not for first prize. Of course they'll have a different pick than you. That doesn't mean you give up on your promised duty of deciding based on originality.

@JordanHillArt he is right this is literaly illegal

@AcetheSuperVillain @Xinxinix Sure, I understand that community is a big part of NG, but if I had known from the beginning, I probably wouldn't have bothered entering a community picked contest. I know there are a bunch of artists here who can whip up their followers better than I can, and it won't matter who came up with a more creative outfit.

And like I said, I would have drawn something completely different from the beginning if I were trying to win a community pick. The original contest prompt promised to award creativity, you know that the community isn't going to upvote creativity, it's going to upvote memes and the most skin. It's like telling everyone to draw their best cat, and then telling them the winner will be the one that looks most like a dog.

Not trying to attack you here, I just need to explain why I feel disappointed and betrayed. You seem like you're trying to do the right thing, and I hope you'll be able to use our thoughts and advice to help you reach the most equitable solutions in the future. I get that you feel like you want to eliminate your own bias from the competition, and that's a noble endeavor, but you're just replacing it with another completely chaotic and uninhibited bias. Having a panel of judges can make things more fair, and like the other guy said, having a judge winner and community winner is also a fair way to approach it.

@AcetheSuperVillain @Xinxinix this is a totally understandable view point. But it does not change the fact that its unethical to modify the rules of a contest in such an important way after everyone has submitted. It probably would have saved you a lot of grief to just build on your idea and do a different contest with a completely new contest in the future?

@Garnet-Frost You're being a jack-ass. The artists who won did make more interesting pieces than you did. Art is more than line quality and shading style, especially in a conceptual contest like this. Your piece was boring and didn't convey any of the deep feelings that you have talked about here. You failed and now your whining is piss in the pool for the rest of us.

@AcetheSuperVillain @Xinxinix im an external observer and this is how i feel about it. community vote is often a popularity contest that is rarely judged based on the original parameters and it's definitely pulling the rug out from under the entrants by switching up how something's judged at the last second. sure, your personal biases will always play a role with your judging of what does and doesn't meet the qualifications of the contest you outlined, but that's natural and people who get involved in judge lead contests know this going in.

I appreciate the contest. found new artists i wouldnt have, might do an art challenge with one too. gave me a good excuse to not be so lazy and actually draw something.

So Thanks

@Garnet-Frost @Xinxinix
Garnet frost, contests are absolutely not always about artistic skill. ESPECIALLY when the contest SPECIFICALLY talks about focus on conceptuality and creativity. it is very poor sportsmanship, and you just look like a dick who's pissed his art didnt win. Get in line, there are a LOT of people who didn't win. Don't take it out on the judge, especially when you already misinterpreted the entire contest. Read the contest information next time.

Xinxinix, thank you for listening to our input. Im sorry if I sounded mean or rude in my initial comment, I was just trying to explain my point of view. I appreciate that you have been able to take our input and work with us to make it more fair to the contestants. And again, thank you for hosting the contests in the first place. As others said, I wouldn't have entered in the first place if it was left up to community vote, because community vote ends up being a popularity contest, throwing out the hope of having a fair contest of creativity.

Again, thanks for listening and handling all of this well. Looking forward to the conclusion of the contest. :)

"Entries will be posted based on how many reactions they received initially in the submission thread. The drawing with the most reactions in the newly created thread will win first prize"

Well, thats not fair for 2 reasons. First, that wasnt in the original post, so you change the rules. And second, some art had WAY more exposure because they got frontpaged. So, to me, that's unfair advantage. But I'm to lazy to make fake accounts to fight this, so, whatever. Let's se how it goes.

Being an individual judge or a committee, nobody is going to be completely pleased. In the love contest (which I didnt participate) having the Orange head guy get 1st price would be unthinkable to me. But art is art and speaks differently to everyone. But giving certain advantages to some individuals this kind of nasty, because you make really good artists wonder what they did wrong and how something like "that" won.

But it's ok. Nobody said the universe is fair. I know people in contest playing the "favor" card to get ahead, or straight up cheat to give the 1st price to their girlfriend. Or it's just basic people who go for what is popular or familiar. Saying all that I can also contradict myself because the orange guy is something new (and some other art that got 2nd in another jam). Well. thats all..

May the win be fair.

I'm no longer doing the Community Vote idea, and I won't implement it in the future without explicitly saying so in the rules ^^

Sorry again for the confusion T.T

Aaaah! I'm so excited!

Good luck to everyone waiting for the results of the Sexiest Outfit Contest!
I haven't seen many entries yet but when I have time, I will!

Congrats to the winners and all of the participants of the Concept of Love Contest as well!

Thank you for listening to people’s feedback! While I don’t agree with the reaction vote I can tell you didn’t have bad intentions with it. You’ve handled stuff pretty well and that’s epic! Keep doing cool contests please, these are a lot of fun.

Too be honest, I agree on both sides. It does seem very misleading when it's not on the original post, but meh...I don't really mind anyway. I'm looking forward to see who won and I really had fun. This is my first time entering a contest since I haven't been to newgrounds for YEARS. It's good to hear everyone's opinions and seeing other people's work. This way more fun than being stuck in a mindless rut(go to work, eat, go to bed, repeat). So I'm excited to hear the results soon.

Hey! When will we know the results of the outfit contest? :O

I'll have them selected by this weekend ^^

Oh snap! I should have checked this out, having made a valentine's day piece this year. Mine was probably a bit NSFW with the violence though lol. Tons of great entries though, I'll have to hit this up next year!
