Really upbeat for something that's toned-down. It's not flamboyant as someone would try to predict for a shoot-em-up game soundtrack to be, instead it's *calmly* adventurous.

The vocaloid samples are a high-tier big brain move because with a game soundtrack having it loop with coherent words would become EXTREMELY repetitive, but in this case, the vocals have gone through so much autotune or distortion that it becomes a harmonic instrumentation instead. Very solid concept with correct pacing and switch-ups and subtle piano solos and really reverb-y synths that pull the air of being fantasy-driven very cleanly and stylishly.

A hella nice bop~! ^^

Figburn responds:

woah, thank you! I was really worried how people would respond to the vocaloid use in this since vocals aren’t that common in platformers, I’m very happy you like it!

Altogether a very solid sci-fi beat with an underlying tone of despair and dramatization.

The listener is taken through several step of coalescing sounds that abscond into further droning and peril (which is what you want from a dark, moody beat like this.) It holds your hand as it initially leaves a lot of room for other instrumentation as it's very *open* in the beginning without a solid, precise lead instrumental. I do think the part that introduces the kick drum and snare sample is a bit too off-kilter from the rest of the song's direction.

By the end, it's a very well tied together and supremely adequate dramatically ambient sci-fi track ^^

Thanks! ill re-look at the track a bit later/ ill see ya next stream!

A very gentle instrumental invoking that sense of sentimentality when there's a bunch of high-stringing violins and horns that don't rely on heavy plucking or deep notes. With the light inclusion of other instruments you can definitely see an orchestra playing something like this during the birth of Bambi. It's family-orientated and wholesome and responsible with its melody combinations.

My only criticism being that it's *too* responsible. Where's the bass? Where are the lows? The song doesn't *need* them but it'd be hella cool to find a deeper volume through filling the song out with more tone variance.

ZaazNG responds:

Thank you so much, Xin! I'd love to witness the birth of Bambi to this music irl one day :)
I agree with you, I didn't include alot of bass on purpose, to give it more of an airy, floaty feel, perhaps I went too far lol will definitely keep that in mind for the future :)

Very sentimental-feeling song. It's a mood that goes really well with ending credits and can invoke that feeling of caring while at the same time having a few small "laughs" via fun switch-ups in the beat itself. I love the mix, I love the subtlety in all the instruments to coalesce and dance together rather than having anything really verbose and overtly aggressive.

A full-ass song with a lot of heart and care ^^

trevor8 responds:

thanks!

The beat reigns supreme in this match up, and I think maxx does a great job complimenting the tempo with the way he can roll his words and enunciate the wordplay phonetically. There just isn't enough presence on the instrumental to make it feel like it's a *fair* match. There's definitely room for both to compete with each other. Maxx brings that high energy and melancholy undertone with his way of presenting lyrics almost comedically, and it makes for a nice contrast to a low-toned lo-fi beat. But there isn't enough "oomph" in the beat to bring any direction or focus to how great it was composed.

Well done though, guys! Very fun ^^

You the best for this comment

High energy and fast paced, especially the given context that it drew inspiration from F-Zero, and the song becomes super giddy because of it. That element of danger and excitement work hand-in-hand. The mix feels very *full* for something that's chiptune.

I love how much it pushes the listener to either complete a race against the clock or to just bop their head.

ComposerEvans responds:

That was totally the feeling I wanted the player to have!

Thanks dude

The energetic pacing and wild rhythms tie together in a way that your structure presents opportunity for this chaotic sense of appeal. I initially didn't recognize it was a battle back and forth because the song was so well laid out--it felt absolutely naturally funky and fresh.

Nicely done, carrying something so whacky and giving it the proper roadmap.

Mackievellian responds:

My guy, thank you for leaving a quick review, especially the comment on structure, I always struggled with it

Definitely has a strong industrial vibe, but without enough mid-tones. There's a lack of mixing preventing anything from feeling in the "middle" range that gives a feeling this song is in a HUGE room where everything has reverb applied to it in maximum overdrive.

I think as a concept this is smooth as hell, but that lack of production *kills* me. And then at the end, it's so charming for a few fleeting seconds when the instrumental is mixed up and freestyling, but it doesn't last nearly long enough. I think a bit more crazy experimentation in the middle range would've done this song MAJOR justice ^^

Thanks so much for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the track. I do tend to upload a lot of my tracks to Newgrounds when they're unfinished, though I can't lie to you when I say I called it done when I uploaded this. I'll play around some more with the track though.

I enjoy the funky riffs, the chord progression which doesn't mind being airy and wavy, and having this echo that permeates throughout the instrumental.

I do believe the backing bass could come with some more lows to balance out that clear overlaying beat in contrast to how straightforward the lead instruments are. Definitely psychosocial but in a way that makes sense by keeping it level-headed and concise in its execution ^^

Syntrus responds:

GET OUT OF MY HEAD MAN!!! :3

Extremely interesting for something so short, but the combination of piano solos and tingy, wobbly synths add an air of mystique and danger. It's obviously fantasty-driven but also complacently entertaining.

Just a really good song that did its thing to be concise with hints of being dramatic ^^

ssymboint responds:

I'm happy you think so. Thanks! :D
